Alex Hummingson is a vocalist, songwriter, speaker, writer, and public-facing creative whose work bridges music, performance, storytelling, journalism, and cultural commentary.

She brings warmth, wit, intelligence, and stage presence to talks, panels, interviews, and performance-led appearances.

UPCOMING

Upcoming: performance-based presentation at the University of Copenhagen as part of "Jazz Movements", the 12th Nordic Jazz Conference, October 2026.

SELECTED WORK

Selected appearances and affiliations include the Creativity Conference, the Film + Music panel at the International Short Film Festival Washington DC (2023), and upcoming participation in the 12th Nordic Jazz Conference at the University of Copenhagen in October 2026, and the founding of Christinehofs Theater at Kristinehovs Malmgård in Stockholm, where she served as artistic and creative director.

She has written for SWEA New York Magazine since 2020 and previously worked as a music journalist for Chili, where she reviewed hard rock and metal and interviewed musicians and artists.

PUBLIC ENGAGEMENT

Alex has contributed to conversations around beauty ideals, media representation, women’s self-image, and violence against women through articles, talks, workshops, radio, and television, including TV4's Nyhetsmorgon, Popkollo, Utbildningsradion, Radio P2, Life Leader Academy, and an opera workshop at LAVA Kulturhuset Stockholm.

Her writing and commentary have also appeared in outlets including Aftonbladet and VeckoRevyn. She also took part in the launch tour for Caroline Eriksson's book Normal & Fin (Natur & Kultur, 2005). 

​

Her broader public-engagement background includes The Living History Forum’s REFLEX project, service as Vice President of SWEA Washington DC (2023), and earlier board work with Miljonkulturell Ungdom.

​

Alex also writes on economic abuse and violence against women.

RECOGNITION

Her work has also received recognition in the form of an honourable mention from Expressen, an award and scholarship from the Dialog-89 Foundation, and Amelia’s Everyday Hero Award.
